Nordic Harvest. Presentation and tour. Denmark’s first, large vertical farm, which on 14 floors grows leafy greens and herbs distributed to retailers, canteens and restaurants. Vertical farms operate completely without sunlight, soil and rain, but in an indoor enclosed hydroponic environment with LED lights and optimally controlled light, moisture and fertilizer conditions. On their website, they state: “We can harvest 15 times a year and produce 1,000 tonnes of green in 100 times less space compared with field production. In fact, our production takes no more space than a football pitch.” |
